Aug. 6, 2009 (China Knowledge) – The uniformly-allocated grid power load in Guangdong Province was 63.61 million kilowatts on Aug. 3 due to the economic recovery and continuous hot weather.

The figure rose 5.53% compared with the maximum power load in the same period of last year, hitting a new high.

On Aug. 3, the maximum power load of Guangdong’s major city, Guangzhou, reached 10.33 million kW, while that of Shenzhen hit 11.31 million kW. The maximum power load of Dongguan edged up 0.7% year on year and reached 9.61 million kW, while that of Foshan rose 12.03% to 7.08 million kW.

On Aug. 4, the uniformly-allocated grid power load in Guangdong Province exceeded 60 million kW.

Guangdong Province has made sufficient preparations to ensure a stable power supply and has not needed to implement any power restrictions.

In June, power consumption in Guangdong Province went up, ending a string of eight consecutive monthly drops since October 2008. Since then, the power load has continued to hit record highs. Guangdong plans to invest RMB 45 billion in power grid construction this year and had invested RMB 19.5 billion by the end of June.
