Dec. 1, 2009 (China Knowledge) – Hong Kong stocks rose on Tuesday. The Hang Seng Index, the benchmark, opened 8.08 points lower at 21,813.42. After touching the intraday low of 21,789.41 points, the blue-chip Hang Seng Index rose 291.65 points or 1.34% to close at 22,113.15.

Mainboard turnover rose to HK$74.91 billion.

The Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 Chinese mainland state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, swelled 249.03 points or 1.92% to 13,229.36 points.

Market heavyweight HSBC Holdings Plc<0005><HBC>, which accounts for the largest weighting for the Hang Seng Index, increased 1.16% to HK$91.75.

Real estate stocks ended mixed. SOHO China Ltd<0410> dipped 0.24% to HK$4.16. Sun Hung Kai Properties<0016> edged up 0.61% and closed at HK$115.6. Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd<0001> swelled 1.28% to HK$98.65. Hutchison Whampoa Ltd<0013> rose 0.48% to HK$52.65. Hopson Development Holdings Ltd<0754> slid 1.55% to HK$12.68. Henderson Land Development Co Ltd<0012> rose 3.66% to HK$56.7. Agile Property Holdings Ltd<3383> swelled 1.5% to HK$10.84.

Stocks of gold firms were strong. Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd<601899><2899> increased 6.65% to HK$8.66. Zhaojin Mining Industry Co Ltd<1818> swelled 6.99% to HK$15.62. Lingbao Gold Co Ltd<3330> rose 2% to HK$3.06. Sino Gold Mining Ltd<1862> ended flat at HK$55.5.

FRP, Hang Sen, Hang Seng Index, HK
